Warm Industrial Atmosphere with Natural Alabaster Lighting
This commercial bar project located in California showcases how natural alabaster lighting can transform a hospitality space. The interior blends exposed steel structures, aged wood textures, marble countertops, and warm ambient lighting to create a welcoming yet visually striking environment.
Rather than relying on standard commercial fixtures, the project uses handcrafted alabaster lighting to introduce warmth, texture, and a refined architectural presence throughout the space.
The result is a layered lighting environment that feels both sophisticated and inviting.
Statement Lighting Above the Bar
The centerpiece of the lighting design is the Lucette Linear Alabaster Chandelier, suspended above the main bar.
Crafted with a steel frame and hand-selected natural alabaster panels, this linear chandelier introduces a warm amber glow that perfectly complements the exposed timber beams and industrial ceiling structure.
Each alabaster panel is naturally unique, with subtle veining patterns formed over thousands of years. When illuminated, the stone diffuses light softly, producing a warm and atmospheric glow that enhances the character of the bar.
The elongated rectangular form also reinforces the horizontal flow of the bar counter, visually guiding guests through the space while providing even illumination across the seating area.
The natural translucency of alabaster creates lighting that feels softer and richer than traditional glass fixtures.
Layered Lighting at the Bar Counter
Below the main chandeliers, smaller accent lamps are positioned along the marble countertop to introduce a second lighting layer.
This combination of overhead alabaster fixtures and intimate countertop lighting helps create a welcoming social atmosphere. Guests experience comfortable ambient lighting while still enjoying enough brightness for drinks and dining.
The layered approach also highlights the textures of the marble bar surface and surrounding wood finishes.
Vertical Alabaster Lighting for Booth Seating
Along the booth seating areas, the San Marco Alabaster Grand Rectangular Sconce provides a softer vertical light source that enhances the dining experience.
Constructed from handmade alabaster panels mounted on a steel frame, these sconces emit a warm diffused glow that complements the linear chandeliers above.
Beyond providing functional lighting, the sconces visually frame the wall artwork and seating areas, helping divide the space into comfortable, intimate dining zones.

A Collaboration with the Client
This project began with a conversation with the client, Dave, who was looking for lighting that would complement the industrial architecture of his bar while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests.
