Project Overview
This New Fairfield, CT lighting project transforms a clean architectural shell into a visually rich and inviting modern residence. The existing space featured beautiful natural light and a dramatic floating staircase, yet lacked a focal point and nighttime ambiance. By introducing custom multi-pendant stairwell lighting, a statement foyer chandelier, and a refined dining fixture, the home now feels complete, balanced, and luxuriously elevated.
SECTION A — Staircase Transformation
Before
The floating staircase sits within a tall double-height space but originally lacked illumination and visual definition. Without a central fixture, the area appeared empty, and the architectural features—such as the open treads and glass railing—went unnoticed after dark.
After
A custom multi-pendant installation now animates the stairwell with movement and depth. Staggered drops emphasize the vertical volume, while warm LED tips cast elegant shadows along the walls. The new lighting highlights the floating stair structure and pulls together the first and second floors seamlessly.
The added image captured from the upper landing showcases how the fixture integrates into the second-floor layout, extending the visual harmony across the open living area.
SECTION B — Foyer / Hallway Transformation
Before
The tall foyer corridor felt visually underdeveloped, with no focal point to guide the eye or complement the impressive height of the space.
After
A soft-glow multi-ball chandelier now defines the foyer, enhancing both daytime and evening impressions. Viewed from the upper landing or from the front entry, the fixture creates a floating effect and coordinates beautifully with the staircase installation. Together, they generate a cohesive, modern entry sequence.
SECTION C — Dining Area Upgrade
Before
The dining room previously lacked a defining element. Despite ample natural light, the space felt visually incomplete without a statement fixture above the table.
After
A brass linear chandelier now anchors the dining room with balance and sophistication. The layered rods catch and diffuse light, creating texture and warmth that complement the home’s neutral palette. The fixture’s scale perfectly matches the dining table, enhancing the room without overwhelming it.
SECTION D — Designer Notes & Measurements
The staircase height and narrow footprint guided the selection of a multi-pendant fixture with staggered lengths to emphasize vertical flow. The foyer’s 6.5-foot width required a delicate, airy piece—hence the multi-ball cluster. These choices were made to harmonize with the existing architecture and maximize impact without overwhelming the space.
